Definition
The Akita is a large powerful dog breed originating from Japan. Native to Honshu Island, Akitas were originally used as hunting dogs. Their thick double coat can be white or a variety of colors. Akitas are loyal and affectionate companions to their family members. They have a distinctive fox-like face with erect ears and tails.
